Carolyn Announces Her Candidacy
At the July 2026 business meeting of the Linn County Democratic Central Committee, Carolyn announced her plans to run for Mayor of Albany in the November 2026 general election. Carolyn shared these words with the precinct committee persons present:
“Hi, neighbors!
After years of listening, learning, and working alongside so many of you as your city councilor, your delegate to the state central committee, precinct committee person, and neighborhood leader, I’m proud to annouce today that I am running for mayor of the city of Albany.
I am running for mayor because our work in local government only matters if people can trust it. Albany is ready for a mayor who leads with service, shows up for our most marginalized populations, and keeps our democratic values at the center of every decision. Our democratic values call on us to expand access, strengthen fairness, and make sure every resident, no matter their background, income, or what their family looks like, can see themselves in the future we’re building for Albany.
Ethical leadership is a daily practice of listening, telling the truth, and choosing the public good over personal gains, even when that decision is a difficult one. I’m committed to these principles, and I’m grateful to stand with people who believe our city governmanet should be both effective and worthy of the public’s trust.
Our campaign website will launch in the next couple of days, and I look forward to your partnership, and our commitment to building a stronger Albany.
-Carolyn”
